Storm & Ice Damage

Storm and freeze events damage buildings from the outside in. The first job is closing the envelope so the weather stops adding to the loss, and the second is dealing with everything the water already reached.

Board-up, tarping, and extraction through the night and through the weather.

Storm and ice damage

Close the envelope first. Everything else follows.

A breached roof or facade during a storm is a loss that keeps growing every hour it stays open. Emergency board-up and tarping are not cosmetic, they are the step that caps the size of the claim.

Call us when you have

  • Wind or storm damage to roof, parapet, or facade
  • Broken windows or a breached building envelope
  • Flooding from storm surge, street water, or drain backup
  • A frozen pipe that has burst or is about to
  • Ice damming at the roof edge pushing water into the top floor
  • A failed heating system leaving a building at freezing risk

What arrives on site

  • Board-up lumber, tarps, and shrink wrap for open envelope
  • Pumps and extraction units for standing water
  • Controlled heat and steam for ice dams and frozen lines
  • Drying equipment staged for immediate setup
  • Temporary power where the building has lost service

What the storm and ice scope covers

  • Emergency board-up, tarping, and temporary weather protection
  • Standing water removal and pump-out
  • Frozen pipe thawing, repair, and restoration of service
  • Ice dam removal without damaging the roof assembly
  • Structural drying of everything the water reached
  • Roof, parapet, and exterior envelope repair
  • Debris removal and site safety
  • Full reconstruction of damaged interiors

How it runs

Make safe

Secure the site, remove hazards, and stop anyone being hurt by what the storm left.

Close the envelope

Board-up and tarping so the building stops taking on water and wind.

Extract and dry

Water out, drying equipment in, readings logged until the structure meets dry standard.

Repair

Permanent envelope and interior repairs, coordinated with your carrier.

Common questions

Do you respond during the storm or only after?

During, whenever it is safe for a crew to work. Emergency board-up and extraction are most valuable while the weather is still active, because that is when the building is still taking on damage. We will not put people on a roof in conditions that would injure them, and we will tell you honestly when that is the case.

Is emergency board-up covered separately from repairs?

Carriers generally treat reasonable emergency mitigation as a covered cost precisely because it limits the loss, and most policies obligate you to take reasonable steps to prevent further damage. We document the pre-existing condition and the emergency work separately from the repair scope so the two are easy for an adjuster to evaluate.

Can you handle a frozen pipe before it bursts?

Yes, and it is far cheaper than the alternative. If you have a line that has frozen but not yet failed, we can thaw it under controlled heat and assess whether the pipe has already been compromised. A burst riser in an occupied building is a multi-unit water loss, so the call is worth making early.

What causes ice dams, and can they be prevented?

They form when heat escaping through the roof melts snow that then refreezes at the cold eave, building a ridge that backs water up under the roofing. Removing the dam solves this winter. Correcting the insulation and ventilation that let the heat escape is what solves it permanently, and we can scope that work as part of the repair.
